This weeks new releases are almost here, and after a two week absence I’m excited to let you know what I think you should be getting your hands on and reading this week. So without any further delay (Or Holidays) here are your picks for the week

The Visitor: How and Why he Stayed #3

16VWHS3

Official Synopsis: The resurgence of a dangerous woman believed to have been killed long ago by the BPRD leads the Visitor to a cult’s compound in the Southwest.

Why it’s a Pick: Mignola! Mignola! Mignola! That should be enough reason to buy the book right there, as Mignola is one of the very best writers in the industry and has crafted a well told and engaging tale here with Visitor that holds its own against the rest of his work. As we reach the half way point too now, I’m expecting the story to pick up on the action here and start barrelling along at a break neck pace!

Hillbilly #6

Official Synopsis: Hillbilly and Lucille, the giant saber-toothed bear, look up some old friend to join them on a quest.

Why it’s a Pick: Eric Powell has his own unique style to comics, and its a style that I’m a real fan of- his artwork is unique and his ability to craft a story that seems to conclude in a single issue yet engages for the entire 32pages is great. Not only that but his short stand alone tales- never stay that way for long as they always link back (look at the Buzzard appearing in Hillbilly) and this issue seems set to be the first issue the revisits the previous ‘Hillbilly’ tales and sets a bigger stage moving forward- and with how enticing this title has been and how curious I am to learn more about the Hillbilly this should be a true don’t miss issue.

Flash #21

Official Synopsis: “THE BUTTON” part two! The cataclysmic events of DC UNIVERSE: REBIRTH #1 continue here! The Dark Knight and The Fastest Man Alive, the two greatest detectives on any world, unite to explore the mystery behind a certain blood-stained smiley button embedded in the Batcave wall. What starts as a simple investigation turns deadly when the secrets of the button prove irresistible to an unwelcome third party—and it’s not who anyone suspects! It’s a mystery woven through time, and the ticking clock starts here!

Why it’s a Pick: The Watchmen may very well be making there way into the DCU, or they may not! But either way this story should give the very reason for the latest restart to the DCU if nothing else, and as both of those possibilities are highly exciting you shouldn’t be missing this. And if you missed last weeks Batman where this all began get yourself a copy of that too. This tale could change the face of the entire companies comic books moving forward and you want to get in on the ground floor now.

Book of the Week

16VWHS3

The Visitor has been such a good read that unfortunately for the other titles released this week- there is no way anything else was making the ‘Book of the Week’ spot! You need to get this issue and the previous 2 if you don’t own them- honestly you’ll thank me.
