Well once again Wednesday is on the roll around and that means that were due a huge amount of new comic book releases to keep us all busy for the rest of the week. However while that’s good news, it also means we have some hard choices about what to spend our money on- and here are my top picks for this week.
All Star Batman #4
Official Synopsis: “My Own Worst Enemy” part four! So close and yet so far from his goal, Batman must now wrangle Two-Face out of his own assassin-filled riverboat casino before it plunges over Niagara Falls to their deaths! The Dark Knight will have to go all-in on the most deadly gamble of his life if he intends to make it out alive.
Why it’s a Pick: All Star Batman has been utterly superb, Snyder has given us a great tale so far in the form of a chase- and this isn’t something that I remember being the main focal point for a Batman story in a long time. Add to that the amazing artwork that Romita is doing on this book and there is absolutely no reason for you not to be reading this right now!
Batman/ TMNT Adventures #1
Official Synopsis: When villains start to mysteriously escape Arkham, Batman seeks to track them down. What happens when he discovers that they have left Gotham completely… and entered the TMNT’s New York City? The animated worlds of the current TMNT Nickelodeon cartoon and Batman: The Animated Series collide in this outstanding mini-series! The greatest all-ages crossover of all-time! Featuring villains and allies from both universes! The influential Batman: The Animated Series returns to comics!
Why it’s a Pick: Maybe its the nostalgic feeling I get when is see the Animated Series Batman, or maybe its my 3year old childs current love for TMNT right now, but I’m really excited for this book. Seeing these two world cross over, and hopefully feature the distinctive visuals that both TV series have given us should be fun, I’m looking forward to Batman Vs Monkey Brains or Dog Pound. Or hell why not give us Bane vs TMNT- this should be fun.
Official Synopsis: “THE SPEED OF DARKNESS” part one! A villain from The Flash’s history returns for the first time in years when The Shade visits Central City. But what does Opal City’s master of shadow want with Barry Allen and the newly christened Kid Flash?
Why it’s a Pick: Flash has been an absolutely entertaining read since its Rebirth return, and I don’t see this stopping now- and for that reason this book is on my pull list. There aren’t many books that are as exciting as this one, or as entertaining and seeing Barry take on big villains is always awesome and this should give us just that.
Book of the Week
All Star Batman takes the crown this week, the title has delivered some great stories and has also delivered some amazing artwork. The tale of Batman trying to save Two-Face and get him to a secure location has just been utterly engaging, and watching Batman try to keep Two-Face out of his own trouble is awesome. This book should be at the top of the pile for reading each time its released.
