Comic Book Picks 19th October ’16

Wednesday is nearly here, and that means it’s time for comic books and this week is a very busy one for big releases and independent releases alike. This means there’s plenty to choose from out there but here’s where my hard earned pennies are going this week.

I Hate Fairyland #10

Official Synopsis: “FINAL FANTASY,” Conclusion
Decades of Gert’s blunders brings Fairyland to its final days. The last of this world’s survivors have to find a way to right her many wrongs. So many. Too many. They’ll probably die. Just read it.

Why its a Pick: This book has been brilliant since its launch, and it continues to roll on with some serious steam and some brilliant laughs too. Skottie Young is delivering some great and gruesome story telling that looks like a children’s book (it seriously isn’t though) mixed with a few central characters that you cant help but love- mainly Gert here. This book is everything a comic book should be- fun, great art work and a whole host of entertainment.

Infamous Iron Man #1

Official Synopsis: There is a new Iron Man in town and his name is VICTOR VON DOOM. The greatest villain of the Marvel Universe will try something new. Where Tony Stark failed, Doom will succeed. What is Doom’s Master Plan?

Why its a Pick: The fact that this book is claiming Victor Von Doom is Iron Man alone should be enough!!!!!  But if its not then how about the fact the artwork is being produced by Alex Maleev who has some of the finest visuals in the business (atleast in my opinion) This book should start off hot and is bound to be a talking point from tomorrow so get on board now.

Powers #7

Official Synopsis: Leaping off your PlayStation into the comic that started it all, a brand-new story arc of the award-winning mashup of cops and capes like you’ve never seen them before! Witness an untold tale of POWERS past – the secret origin of Diamond is revealed!

Why its a Pick: Powers is one of those books that has such a sporadic release schedule that each and every time a book arrives it feels special- however this issue promises to be just that with the untold tale of how Diamond got his powers. Consider me sold, and that’s before you even mention that fact this book is loaded with top rate story telling and artwork.

Book of the Week

Powers romps it way to the top of my reading pile this week, despite some very tough competition. This book should be well worth the read and will be the first one I go for.
