Wednesday is nearly here folks, and along with being another day to catch Pokemon that means its also time for the weekly slew of comic books to hit the shelves. And if your reading this then I assume you want to know what I’m recommending this week, so here are my top picks
Black Hammer #1
Official Synopsis: Once they were heroes, but the age of heroes has long since passed. Banished from existence by a multiversal crisis, the old champions of Spiral City — Abraham Slam, Golden Gail, Colonel Weird, Madame Dragonfly, and Barbalien — now lead simple lives in a timeless farming town. Even as they try to find their way home, trouble has a unique way of finding heroes wherever they are!
Why its a Pick: Jeff Lamire writes great books, and this take on super heroes retirement sounds like it should be fun. The artwork preview that has been released also shows the good job that Dean Ormston has done with the interiors here, and combined these two elements should make an exciting book.
Darth Vader #23
Official Synopsis: • Vader vs. Morit on the shell of the Executor!
• DO YOU NEED MORE THAN THAT???
• Fine: Cylo’s secret revealed!
Why its a Pick: This book has been on fire since it was released, and 23 issues still continues to deliver great story and action in each and every issue- if you ever want to see Darth Vader done right then look no further than this series. With its end drawing near, issue 25, this should be a real great action filled saber wielding issue.
I Hate Fairyland #7
Official Synopsis: “HOW TO DRAIN YOUR DRAGON” Gert finds a new way out of Fairyland, but it will take more than just her axe.
Why its a Pick: I originally got this book as it seemed like Skottie Young could do something interesting here, and as it turns out he has created a brilliantly insane story with a total nightmare main character in Gert. This book delivers on the laughs, the violence and the cartoon blood and fights like nothing else on the market. This issue should be fun as watching Gert with dragons just sounds like a bad idea to me and I know it wont go any better than I’m thinking.
Book of the Week
Darth Vader steals it this week, this should be a superb issue full of lightsaber action and the showdown between Vader and Morit should be top notch Star Wars.
