This Wednesday is nearly upon us, and that means that it is very nearly new comic books day- and with that in mind here are my picks for this weeks best books.
Civil War II #3
Official Synopsis: CLASSIFIED!
Why its a Pick: Civil War II has been great so far, the usage of Ullyses to set Stark off has been handled brilliantly- and the promise or at least the hint of Banner going full Hulk despite apparently being ‘Cured’ is too much for me to miss. I’m definitely intrigued as to what were going to get from this issue given that Marvel have confirmed that Banner is the Hulk!!!
Official Synopsis: “Lightning Strikes Twice” Chapter Two: The Flash trains novice speedster August Heart to help protect the people of Central City from the Black Hole, a new breed of rogue with a deadly agenda for the Fastest Men Alive.
Why its a Pick: The entire first issue was brilliant, as was the Rebirth Special that very much made Flash the focus of the upcoming DC changes. The tease of more Flashes and new villains was also exciting. This is the most excited I’ve been about Flash title in a long time, and so far with very good reason.
Harrow County #14
Official Synopsis: Emmy encounters more strangers in Harrow County, mysterious and powerful with supernatural abilities. As she learns more about the strange brood that claims to be her family, she is lured further into their world. But staying with them will have a dire cost for Emmy — and all of Harrow County.
Why its a Pick: Harrow County is consistently one of the best releases within comic books, the characters are brilliantly written and the artwork is superbly creepy to go with the story. The addition of additional characters with abilities is only set to improve the story too, as Emmy has felt isolated since conquering her power- so seeing the world she know expand again should be worth every penny.
Book of the week
Nothing this week beats the prospect of a rampaging Banner for me I’m afraid. I’m fully aware that Harrow County will have a better story and that Flash may have better development but the prospect of seeing the ‘Real’ Hulk again is too enticing.
