Wednesday is nearly upon us, and in the week that follows DC: Rebirth we get the first batch of their newly launched titles along with Marvels Civil WarII and some mighty independent releases- making this a huge week. But as ever here are the top three books I think you should be giving your hard earned cash too.
Batman Rebirth #1
Official Synopsis: EVIL 365: Gotham City faces the threat of the Calendar Man!
Why its a Pick: Batman has been the best DC book since Snyder took over, and with the focus he’s still receiving I don’t see this chancing any time soon. Add to this the fact we got the Joker revelation that obviously needs following up, and the ever intriguing Calender man in this issue and story arc and this book should start out strong. Of all the Rebirth titles this is the one that has me most interested.
Hellboy in Hell #10
Official Synopsis: Hellboy transforms into what he was always meant to be.
Why its a Pick: This is it!!!!!! The official end to everything Mignola related on Hellboy- the character he created and has been writing since the 90’s all comes to his end here, but will it be the end that has always been prophesied for ‘Anung Un Rama’ or will it be a better fate for our hero. This book should be immense and hopefully delivers big here- and with Mignola at the final helm I expect nothing less.
Civil War II #1
Official Synopsis: The explosive first chapter in the comic event EVERYONE will be talking about. And we come out swinging with a blistering double-sized first issue from the creative team behind last year’s best-selling debut of INVINCIBLE IRON MAN and Miles Morales. A new Inhuman, with the ability to profile the future, emerges and the ramifications ripple into every corner of the Marvel Universe. Lines are drawn, bodies fall, and the Marvel Universe will be rocked to it’s very core. The action starts here
Why its a Pick: The prelude for Marvels biggest event in FCBD and Civil War #0 was great and set the stage brilliantly, and its for this reason that I’m stoked to be finally getting to the first issue. This should deliver based on the characters and creators involved, and with it being the latest of the events from the ‘House of M’ it should hopefully deliver. Either way the first issue is sure to be good, so check it out here and now.
Book of the Week
Nothing beats Mignola’s finally book with his greatest creation and one of the finest characters in all of comics. If this is the end (atleast for Mignola) then this is going to be the first book that I read this week, and probably the only book I’ll be able to think about when it ends.
