Comic Book Picks 20th Jan’16

Wednesday is great, mainly for the comic books and this week has a busy schedule of big titles and some interesting looking debuts. But what’s worth buying this week, well here are my top picks for the week.

Batman #48

Official Synopsis: Mr. Bloom’s seeds have grown into an army that may turn all of Gotham City against its new Batman. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne meets a mysterious stranger who could start a chain of events no one can stop.

Why its a Pick: The whole Mr Bloom story has been amazing, we’ve genuinely got to see the debut of a new villain that really could change the landscape of the universe for a long time to come if handled correctly. But what has me on the edge of my seat for this issue more, is the fact that it appears both Bruce Wayne and the Joker re-met last issue and may well both be starting to remember who they are: and this would be brilliant to see begin again.

Star Wars #15

Official Synopsis: Another tale of Obi-Wan’s exile on Tatooine! Owen Lars took Luke in…but he refused to let Ben be part of his life. Why? What trouble could have been stirred up by Ben protecting Luke?

Why its a Pick: Star Wars has been hot since its Marvel return, and the main title has given us some brilliant stories- and post ‘Vader Down’ I expect the title to keep the amazing momentum it built and only press forward with more and more great titles.

Wolf #5

Official Synopsis: NEW STORY ARC
Years after the events of issue four, Wolfe and Anita do their best to pick up the broken pieces. A brand-new timeline means a brand-new artist — RICARDO LOPEZ ORTIZ (ZERO) — on board!

Why its a Pick: Wolf has been great, the story has been interesting and evolving nicely while the artwork has been superb and the mix of the supernatural with mystery has just scored a huge positive with myself. This issue looks to move forward with our two protagonists and I’m excited to see where they go after there first real mystery/adventure that left both parties reeling.

Book of the Week

Joker and Batman, both back from the dead and meeting each other unbeknownst to themselves on a park bench for the first time- no way anything else has me more excited than this right now!
