Comic Book Picks 4th November’15

Wednesday is only one more sleep away and that means that new comic books are literally right around the corner, but with this weeks massive release schedule whats really worth your time? Well here are my top picks for this week.

Star Wars #11

Official Synopsis: Chewbacca Unleashed! Skywalker in chains! Han Solo…with a ball and chain?!

Why its a Pick: Star Wars is red hot right now in all media formats, but the recent comic books from Marvel have been nothing short of brilliant. They’ve managed to capture the glory of the original characters and the feel of the trilogy and have created magic with this series. Seeing the story develop between the movies is also great as we knew there was some time frame and character development and getting this official filled in is really exciting.

Uncanny X-Men 600 & Extraordinary X-Men #1

Official Synopsis: The final explosive issue in Brian Michael Bendis’ epic X-Men saga! Scott Summers – savior or destroyer? Questions will be answered!
The Jean Grey School, the New Xavier School – it’s all going to change. The X-Men are at a crossroads. And not everyone will make it through in one piece. Featuring 40 pages of a host of popular X-Men creators

The fate of mutantkind is decided here! Staring down the threat of extinction once more, veteran X-Man Storm pulls together the team she’ll need to ensure her race’s survival. Together, these EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN will struggle with the familiar burden of being hated and feared, while facing threats the likes of which they’ve never seen. Here’s hoping they survive the experience!

Why its a Pick: Uncanny X-Men is long overdue but the job Bendis has done on the series has been brilliant and im super excited to see how it truly ends just as the new flagship Mutant title launches in the fork of Extraordinary X-Men. The new team for Extraordinary looks interesting as we see Old Man Logan and Jean Grey join the team led by Storm, and i have to say I’m excited to see where this book goes.

Black Science #17

Official Synopsis: A bold new era in BLACK SCIENCE begins! New arc! New direction! New readers: join the Dimensionauts in a psychedelic journey of the soul!

Why its a Pick: Black Science has been brilliant, and despite taking a fairly long break between issues, I couldn’t be happier to have one of the best Science Fiction books currently going back in print. Remender has been brilliant at creating characters and a story that I care about along with some amazing worlds and moments. This is a book that has a new jump on point right here, so if you’ve never read it before now is the time for sure.

Drax #1

Official Synopsis: Drax the Destroyer is the muscle for the Guardians of the Galaxy, but what does he do when he’s not adventuring through space with the Guardians? He lets his bloodthirsty quest for revenge take the pilot seat, of course! Determined to find and kill Thanos once and for all, Drax is ready to take on the universe. But when you’re tooling around the universe in a ship aptly named “The Space Sucker”, an unwavering desire for bloodshed isn’t enough to keep a mission from derailing. Drax crash lands into his wildest adventures ever, encountering foes no one will ever expect! The depths of space may not be big enough to contain this much grit, vengeance and all-out action!

Why its a Pick: Drax is the last of the Guardians to get his own series but could be one of the most exciting (as much as I love Groot and Rocket) and half of this is due simply to the fact that CM Punk is on writing duties. Add to this the brilliance of Drax and his over zealous nature for fighting and violence and this should be an exciting book right of the bat.

Book of the Week

CM Punks full book debut has me excited- consider me a huge Punk mark if you like but this book should be great for a number of reasons.
