Comic Book Picks 21st October’15

I’m still struggling not to spend all my time re-watching the Star Wars Episode VII trailer and breaking it down detail by detail for clues, however it is new comic book day tomorrow so in-between watching the trailer over and over on repeat here’s what I think you should be buying.

Amazing Spider-Man #2

Official Synopsis: Spider-Man has gone global! Parker Industries is more successful than ever, with offices in New York, Shanghai, London and San Francisco and Peter Parker is racking up the frequent flyer miles with his “bodyguard” Spider-Man in tow, of course. But success breeds enemies and a reinvigorated Zodiac have also widened their scope to threaten the whole world. Join Dan Slott and Giuseppe Camuncoli as they take Spider-Man to the next level! This huge first issue also includes stories featuring Silk, Spidey 2099, Spider-Woman and much more!

Why its a Pick: The first issue was much better than i expected given the new global remit that Parker has and I really enjoyed seeing someone else under the Mask to help keep his identity secret- these are both elements in interested to see play out, and possibly grow across the globe. Add to this the anti Tony Stark moniker and this book should be fun.

Tokyo Ghost #2

Official Synopsis: Constables Led Dent and Debbie Decay are given their final mission: purge their bodies of all technology and invade the Garden Nation of Tokyo.

Why its a Pick: The first issue from Rememder felt like nothing else recently within comics, it was a brilliant blend of current social media obsessions mixed with future tech to create a brilliant dystopian future that doesn’t feel to implausible. When you also take into account the character and story development, along with the action that took place it was a solid debut that definitely has me hooked and looking forward to more- anything with that solid a debut has to be worth reading again.

Darth Vader #11

Official Synopsis: Aphra’s private investigation on behalf of Vader… Vader’s investigation on behalf of the Empire… It all come crashing together…with deadly results

Why its a Pick: Star Wars! Darth Vader! Sith vs Jedi! A Galaxy Far Far Away! On the back of the new trailer and how great everything Star Wars and Marvel releases has been there is no way this book isn’t my first read this week.

Book of the Week

Maybe its the new trailer giddiness as I write this but I couldn’t be more excited for anything Star Wars right now, and the job Marvel have done since taking the licence only helps fuel that fire.
