Comic Book Picks 14th October’15

Wednesday is only one day away, and that means more comic books to get our mitts on and divert our attention for days on end. This week continues the relaunch of Marvel titles with new number ones and creative teams but does that mean its a Marvel only week? Lets take a look at whats worth buying this week.

Uncanny Avengers #1

Official Synopsis: New team, same mission. Steve Rogers has formed a new Avengers unity squad compromised of humans, mutants and…Inhumans? A new threat to the Avengers is revealed. Wait, is that Deadpool on the cover? Is he seriously an Avenger now?

Why its a Pick: This is Avengers title I’m most excited by in the relaunch, as the team seems hugely interesting to me. I always enjoy reading Deadpool and Spider-Man and when you add Rogue, Old Man Cap and Brother Vodoo this should be a fun team. This has exciting written all over it and that’s the reason it makes the list, while im disappointed that Remender is no longer on this book (or at Marvel) im sure this will be a hugely successful title.

Harrow County #6

Official Synopsis: It’s said that everyone has an evil twin — and in Emmy’s case that may be true! But if Kammi is evil, she’s also charming, clever, and sweet, and she could lure Emmy down a dark and dangerous path — one that leads ever closer to fulfilling the legacy of the long-dead witch Hester Beck!

Why its a Pick: I’ve said it before and ill say it again, this is my favourite new title of 2015 as it has everything you want from a horror book. It has an intriguing and engaging story, it has some creepy ass monsters, some scary moments and some real ‘WTF’ moments. This has been a brilliantly paced and well written of horror in a rural back water town that Cullen Bunn has brought to life in a truly magnificent way, and I couldn’t be more excited to get my hands on the most recent issue.

Spider-Gwen #1

Gwen Stacy is back in the webs and has an all-new, all-different mystery to solve: the reappearance of The Lizard! Spider-Woman was convinced that the Lizard died in her arms along with Peter Parker. But when a similar monster goes on a reptilian rampage, she’s left with doubts not only about Peter’s life, but his death as well. And witness the debut of the Osborns of Earth-65! Fan-favorite creators Jason Latour, Robbi Rodriguez & Rico Renzi are back for more with a story that every Spider-Fan will be talking about!

Why its a Pick:Spider-Gwen is a huge geek culture success and with good reason, she’s fresh, exciting and has a cool look but to go along with it shes had a good- yet short- run of stories and I see this continuing in the new relaunch. Add to this the first glimpse of the Osborns and this is full of exciting possibilities.

Book of the Week:

Yeah Harrow County steals it this week without question- this has just been such a good book with high levels of consistency that I couldn’t not have it here at the top.
