Comic Book Picks 15th September ’15

Wednesday is right around the corner and that means so is the only day of the week that features new comic books. So with a slew of new books released what should you read? Well here are my picks for this week.

Sex Criminals #12

Official Synopsis: Suzie and Jon continue the worst recruitment plan in the history of entertaining second-act montage sequences. Getting the band together never had so many fluids.

Why its a Pick: Sex Criminals has been an entertaining read and has done something totally different since it debuted and continues to be highly entertaining and engaging. The story has really progressed and now we see Suzie and Jon looking to find others with their unique gift of entering ‘The Quiet/Cum World’ in an attempt to stop the mysterious Sex Police. This book takes a decent break between issues but is always worth a read when it hits the shelves.

Star Wars #9

Official Synopsis: Luke’s lightsaber has been stolen and he must retrieve it!  Meanwhile, the Imperials are closing in on Han and Leia……set upon them by a mysterious woman from Han’s past!

Why its a Pick: Star Wars is red-hot right now, not just in the comic book world but everywhere with the Episode VII hype. However that aside this series has been a real treat giving us stories and characters of old in their true light, and the addition of a potential previous love for Solo who wants him captured or dead has been exciting. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this and seeing how entwined these two were- as to whether Solo is the scoundrel we all assumed in Episode IV.

BPRD Hell on Earth #135

Official Synopsis: The impossible will happen! The stakes have never been higher going into the final massive story of Hell on Earth as the Black Flame tests the limits of his power.

Why its a Pick: BPRD is a title I don’t give enough praise, but MIgnola has done great things here and seeing the end of Hell on Earth is an exciting prospect as it foreshadows the direction of Hellboy and his personal Journey towards his destiny in ‘Hellboy in Hell.’ The Black Flame has been brilliantly interesting and I don’t see this stopping anytime before it truly ends, and that’s something I definitely want to be a part of.

Book of the Week

I’m sorry but Sex Criminals takes it this week, the Book is just to different and unique to not be at the top of my reading pile when it arrives. Star Wars has been great but there’s something about the adventures of Jon and Suzie I cant help but be excited and intrigued by.
