Comic Book Picks 29th July’15

cropped-comic-picks-header.jpgWednesday is only one more sleep away, and with that comes the arrival of new comic books for us all to excite ourselves with; and having said that here are my picks for this weeks best releases.

Star Wars #7

Official Synopsis: A special one-off tale of Ben Kenobi! Injustice reigns on Tatooine as villainous scum run rampant. Will Ben risk revealing himself to do what’s right? Guest Artist Simone Bianchi (WOLVERINE, ASTONISHING X-MEN) joins writer Jason Aaron for this special tale!

Why its a Pick: This series has been amazing since its release and has done a great job of filling the gap between ‘A New Hope’ and ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ so far and getting to see what the best Jedi (in my opinion) of all time during this time period should be fun. Add to that the amazing art work of Bianchi on this issue and it should be a great read as well as aesthetically pleasing.

Powers #4

Official Synopsis: The all-new next chapter in the award-winning POWERS continues. As Deena uncovers her father’s past sins, Walker finds himself the personal target of the new Powers serial killer. All this and another exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Sony POWERS TV show, which will be on the air at the same time that this book ships!

Why its a Pick:Powers has always been amazing since its first debut (not this relaunch) and has never dropped below an essential read for me and this series is the same- it’s delivering high quality stories and great artwork that are engaging, exciting and intriguing all at the same time each and every issue. If this isn’t enough to get you interested i don’t what would be!

Gotham by Midnight Annual

Official Synopsis: Get set for a tale of love and vengeance in this centuries-old mystery for the Midnight Shift – and the Gentlemen Ghost!

Why its a Pick: Gotham by midnight is a real change of pace for a book based in the Batman’s town, and getting to see some of the old-time Gentlemen Ghost should be a fun read for sure. Ray Fawkes has also been doing an amazing job on this book, and I don’t expect that to change simply because this is an annual.

Book of the Week

Star Wars, Kenobi and the best Timeline of the Saga how could this not win the book of the week!
