WWE presents their latest PPV tonight in the firm of Battleground, which is headlined by Seth Rollins Vs Brock Leaner, and also features Kevin Owens Vs John Cena for the US Title. But who going to walk out of the show victorious? Well here are my picks for the night
RTruth Vs. King Barrett
This has to be the worst rivalry on the card by far, and features Barrett who should mean more at this point in his career with the company. However he’s now stuck in a pointless comedy feud with Truth about who is the real king- which is a total waste of the gimmick they brought back only several months after its return. Logic says their is more in Barrett as the kids g and he is much better in the ring and a great heel, so I suggest the kick off show ends with “All Hail King Barrett”
Winner: King Barrett
WWE Tag Team Championships- Prime Time Players Vs. The New Day
PTP shocked everyone with their surprise win at elimination chamber, and since then have mainly featured in 6man tag team matches to continue the feud with New Day. I’m still not sold on them being long term champions. And as much as I thought I wouldn’t be saying this the New Day are more exciting and have momentum on their side with a big win over Lucy Dragons. I see some checanery to steal the win, but it’s likely to happen tonight.
Winner: The New Day
Randy Orton Vs. Sheamus
This isn’t going to be the most exciting match on the show by fat, but it should be physical and contain plenty of action. I’m not really sure why these two are feuding other than too give both of them television time, although I’m sure we should get more than that. And while it would make sense to give Sheamus the win here to keep him strong the fans love a RKO and the WWE want people to remember this match for something so I guess this is the odd call of the night.
Winner: Randy Orton
US Title- Kevin Owens Vs. John Cena
This should be the match that steals the show, as their first two encounter have been amazing match of the year candidates and I expect this one to be up there in terms of the wrestling delivered and the story told in the ring. The real question is wetter the WWE build on the amazing few months of Owens debut and give him the knod to move forward with a title. All signs would point to this being the case with him dropping the NXT title, and hopefully the company have learnt from stars like Wyatt and Rusev where loosing to Cena in big feuds has almost killed them. Owens should fair better and deserves better here tonight.
Winner: And new US Champion Kevin Owens
Bray Wyatt Vs. Roman Reigns
This has had some odd build, it’s been creepy and exciting at times thanks to Wyatt but the confrontations and physicality between the two has been odd. We’ve seen Wyatt beat down Reigns and leave then return to finish and we’ve seen Reigns arrive behind Wyatt for a semi beat down but nothing massive. I’d love to see the WWE have a long term plan for this that leads until the Rumble, even if it means a complete dissection of Reigns but I’m sure after tonight it will have run its course, and with the companies lack of concern over win/loss stats for Wyatt and the push for Reigns this only looks to have one winner.
Winner: Roman Reigns
WWE World Heavyweight Championship- Seth Rollins Vs. Brock Lesnar
I have to admit seeing Brock on TV all month has been great, and the decimation he has left behind is also cool but at the same time I love Rollins as the champion. Not only this but they took the title off Brock at Wrestle mania in favor of Rollins to set this up, but Leaner is part time so who should walk out the champion? The smart ,one unis on Brocdk who conquers everything in his path, but my gut tells me the Architect has a plan up his sleeve to leave with the gold- I don’t expect a clean finish but I do expect it to be fun to watch
Winner: Barely surviving suplex city Seth Rollins
