Wednesday is nearly here again, and this week is a big one for comic books so let’s get straight to looking at what I’m recommending you read this week.
Big Man Plans #3
Official Synopsis: Big Man’s path of revenge takes a dark turn as he fights for his own survival.
Why its a Pick: Eric Powell has delivered a brutal tale of revenge so far in the first two issues of this book, but at the same time he has given us a character both intriguing and exciting in the ‘midget’ and im hoping that with the promised violence we get some more about who he is and why he’s returned home. The artwork on this is great too, this book reminds me of the Goon (another Powell book) and that is a huge complement and a real reason to be buying this book.
Star Wars #6
Official Synopsis: Luke vs. Boba Fett! Han Solo in hot water!
Why its a Pick: This book is red-hot and has been since launch, but when you add into that the appearance of Bobba Fett and his ruthless actions last issue to find Luke- the confrontation between these two promises to be exciting and nail-biting. This book has really got the tone of the original trilogy and that is a true compliment to Jason Aaron, and one of the big reasons this book is so much fun to read.
Official Synopsis: For the first time ever, the most famous talking-tree-thing in the Marvel Universe is starring in his own series! You might recognize him from Guardians of the Galaxy, the biggest movie of 2014. When Rocket and Groot are on an intergalactic roadtrip and calamity strikes, the two get separated – and for the first time in years, Groot’s on his own! Written by comedic ace Jeff Loveness (Jimmy Kimmel Live!) and drawn by Marvel Comics newcomer Brian Kesinger (Disney Animation), get a front row seat for EXPLOSIONS, SPACE SHARKS, ALIENS, AND INTERGALACTIC HITCHIKING (YEAH, BABY! YOU READ THAT RIGHT.)! Whatever may be coming Groot’s way, one thing’s for sure — it’s going to be a GROOT adventure
Why its a Pick: I know there are bigger books this week, like Secret Wars #3 and Baltimore: Cult of the Red King but this book excites me- and let’s be honest who isn’t a huge fan of GROOT!!!! This is his first solo outing in a book, he had a tiny tale in the Guardians of the Galaxy special, but im excited to see how Marvel handle this and wether its a real book to be pushed or a simple cash-in.
Book of the Week:
Nothing has me more excited than Bobba Fett this week dueling with a Jedi in training- no more should need to be said.
