Wednesday is nearly here- and that means its nearly time for the new batch of comic books to hit the shelves but whats worth buying this week and giving your time? Well here are my picks for the week.
The Goon: Once Upon a Hard Time #3
Official Synopsis: The Goon’s violent revenge spree continues as he brutally puts down his adversary, but will the coven of Magpies have the last laugh when his tortured soul contributes to their power? Will he find some form of redemption before it’s too late?
Why its a Pick: The Goon has always been a great read but with this being the arrival of the end, there has never been more excitement or bigger potential consequences at risk for our hero. So far the story has been great and given us a very different Goon to the one we’ve all come to love and if this is truly going to be the end then so far its been fitting and brilliant.
Official Synopsis: An all-new chapter in the Eisner Award-winning series that turns the police procedural on its head. Walker and Deena are reunited and discover things about each other they never knew – even after all these years. Plus: an unsolvable powers case that could determine the fate of the entire Powers Department. Read the comic and see the brand-new powers TV show on the PlayStation Network. The letter column will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes info on the show from executive producer Brian Michael Bendis!
Why its a Pick: Powers is currently on a hot streak, its got a comic book return and a great television show that has just completed its first season and been renewed for a second. Any chance to see more of Walker and Pilgrim is a treat, especially as were got to see Walker take a beating last issue and watching him deal with this should be entertaining and engrossing. Add to this the killer power that has the potential to eradicate a boat full of people on the lose and this should be a fun issue.
Official Syniosis: As Charlie struggles to save Sailor from the wytches’ grasp, the monsters’ true hold over the Rooks family is revealed in this, the harrowing ending to the series’ first arc!
Why its a Pick: Wytches has been brilliant, creepy, enjoyable and downright brilliantly paced! After the events of last issue came crashing in really fast and we discovered that the whole town is on the coven, how can the family possibly survive, and can Charlie get out of the tree/nest? These are questions that im excited to see the answers too.
Book of the Week
Nothing this week has me more excited than the potential travel towards the end of the line for the Goon- and the first two issues have been brilliant so expect this to continue here
