Comic Book Picks 15April ’15

cropped-comic-picks-header.jpgWednesday is nearly here again, and that means that it’s almost time to get out the wallet (physical or digital) and start buying those comic books. But whats out there this week you need to check out?Well here are my picks for the week…..

Chrononauts #2

CHRONAU2

Official Synopsis: Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly have become the world’s first time travelers – but not all goes according to plan when the two go rogue in their own era-hopping adventure! With the world watching, the buddies get mixed up in an eon’s worth of sticky situations while some of history’s scariest villains – and their bosses back in the present day – are determined to track them down!

Why Its a Pick: The first issue was very good, it gave us enough background on the story to get me engaged, while leaving me with a hook at the end when the travelers were left in peril. I’m still not sold that this will be amazingly different to ‘Black Science’ which is my favourite science fiction comic right now- but im willing to give Millar a few mor issues to impress as the premise is strong and solid.

Thor #7

THORW7

Official Synopsis: THE BATTLE FOR THE HAMMER RAGES ON! BEHOLD, THE ALL-NEW THOR VS. THE UNSTOPPABLE MACHINE OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION THAT IS… THE DESTROYER. MOST VERILY, ‘TIS ‘NUFF SAID.

Why its a Pick: Thor has been amazing since the change over to Jason Aaron and the female lead, and the watching Odin try to get the hammer back in the hands of his son has been exciting- I wasnt really sure of the lengths that he would og too but unleashing the destroyer has really turned his character into a full-blown villain so far. Add to this the mystery that still surrounds who is the new Thor and this book is exciting each and every issue. This book has so many positives its impossible to even list them all here, but suffice to say you need to be reading this now!!

Archie Vs Predator #1

ARCHPRED1

Official Synopsis: America’s favorite teen meets the galaxy’s fiercest hunter! Archie and friends hit Costa Rica for Spring Break, where party games and beach games are soon replaced by the Most Dangerous Game! What mysterious attraction does the gang hold for the trophy-collecting Predator, and will the kids even realize they’re in danger before it claims them all?

Why its a Pick: Im going to be totally honest here and admit that im not a huge fan of Archie comics, however the buzz around the more adult fell to ‘Afterlife’ and having read a few issues has me excited for a crossover with the galaxies second most dangerous predator (I refuse to acknowledge he’s more dangerous than the xenomorph) That’s the whole reason for my pick, I love the predator and am excited to see what he can do when mixed with a ht comic book property that wholly american.

Book of the Week

THORW7

Nothing this week is more exciting than seeing Thor meet and battle the Destroyer in my eyes, so Jason Aaron needs to deliver.
