Wednesday is now only one night away and that means its a matter of hours before this weeks new comic books see shelves and digital stores, but what should you buy? Well here are my picks of the week
Big Man Plans #2

image

Official Synopsis:Big Man, by knee knee-capping a guy with a drywall hatchet, begins his bloody road of revenge as more clues to his mysterious motivations are revealed.

Why its a Pick: The first issue of this book was intense, it was no holds barred anger and aggression but in a way that engaged you as a reader and not threw you off. And this issue seems set to give us more detail on what Big Man is after and why the last issue ended with such violence. Powell did a great job with the first issue and this should be just as good a read.

Nameless #3

image

Official Synopsis: As the exploration of vast structures on the surface of the asteroid Xibalba begins, more nightmarish secrets of a prehistoric cosmic war come crawling into the light. What soul-destroying truth lies buried in Xibalba’s immense tunnel network? What malignancies lie dreaming there? What is human? And what is NOT?

Why its a Pick: Morrison has done some odd but bizarrely brilliant things with the first two issues including a huge reveal about who is leading the mission and possibly why last issue, all while building the mythos of the Xibalba at the same time. So with two big mysteries and concerns for our team I’m excited to see how they solve and survive both of these. If you love crazy off the wall science fiction this is the book for you.

Convergence #1

Official Synopsis: This is it! The entire DC Universe, from the dawn of time through The New 52, must fight to survive against a threat that bends the Multiverse to its will. Your favorite characters from every era and every forgotten series are all here! But are you going to say hello again just to say goodbye forever? The stakes have never been higher as the heroes of Crisis, Zero Hour, Elseworlds, and more are brought together for Convergence!
In the first issue of this weekly series, Brainiac has collected cities of doomed and forgotten worlds, who must battle each other – and the losers will be destroyed! But why is he forcing this conflict? Join the refugees from Earth-2 as they unlock the truth behind this world that exists outside time and space and is very much alive! Is Brainiac really in control – or is this planet named Telos an unparalleled force of evil?
This extra-sized issue is packed with twists and turns and appearances you NEVER thought you’d see – including the heroes from the hit series INJUSTICE!

Why its a Pick: Convergence is being touted as the biggest DC event ever, and that’s some huge claim but its this first issue where we get to see how good this could really be. It’s all going to hinge on this first issue for me, but I’m excited to give this a go.

Nothing has me as excited this week as the second issue of Eric Powell’s new book, so it has to be the best buy of the week for me.
