Wednesday is just around the corner and that means that were very close to another day full of glorious new comic book reading, but lets take a real long look at whats the best book out there this week for your reading pleasure.
Star Wars #3
Official Synopsis: THE GREATEST SPACE ADVENTURE OF ALL TIME CONTINUES! The attack on Cymoon-1 comes crashing to an end! Will the Rebels overcome Vader to strike another blow against the Empire? And is Luke ready to be the Jedi Ben wanted him to be?
Why its a Pick: Star Wars has been on fire for the first two issues, and the subsequent 3issues relating (Darth Vader, Princess Leia) since it returned to Marvel and this ride isn’t going to stop anytime soon. Jason Aaron seems to have found what it was that drew us to these characters in the first place and has captured it in every piece of dialog, while Cassaday has captured the magic look of the original universe Far Far Away. The battle is set to increase with its intensity this week, and if you’ve ever been a Star Wars fan you owe it to yourself to be reading this title.
Official Synopsis: WHO IS THOR?
That’s the question on everyone’s lips. Most especially Prince Odinson of Asgard. This issue, he starts to narrow down the list of suspects. Meanwhile, tensions continue to flare between the All-Mother and All-Father, Malekith forges his most dangerous pact yet, and Thor prepares to face her greatest challenge!
Why its a Pick: This book has been a real must read since the debut of the new Thor, and the guessing game with the Odinson as to who is now the new wielder of Mjolnir has been truly engaging and a real discussion point. The facts that were getting potentially closer to a reveal is huge but so is the backing of the All Mother to this new Thor as she is bound to cross paths with Odin once again. Jason Aaron seems to be the man to read this week- but in all seriousness this is the best new superhero book from Marvel in a very long time- so come on get some goddess of thunder in your life.
Amazing Spiderman #16
Official Synopsis: Spider-Verse is over, but that doesn’t mean Peter Parker is safe. Someone (or something) has invaded Parker Industries and is targeting its staff! But how? Parker Industries’ security can keep out any living thing?!
Why its a Pick: I feel like Dan Slotts Spider-Man always needs to be a pick, not simply because Spider-Man is my favourite hero but because Slott has done nothing but great things with Parker since he took the reigns years ago and post Spider-Verse what more can he do to the world full of spiders. Well this is where we find out what is next for Parker, and I’m truly excited to see where were going here, as our hero is bound to be reeling after his recent exploits. And we get Romita Jr returning to doing the artwork too, this is always a bonus.
Book of the Week
Right now Star Wars is red-hot at Marvel, and I can’t think of any book that I will read before this one come tomorrow morning, hence it steals book of the week for the second time since its launch. Yes, this book is that good so far.
