Comic Book Picks 17th December’14

Wednesday is only one more sleep away, and that means that a whole host of new comic books is just around the corner- and there is no way I could like any day of the week more. So here’s what I think you should be checking out this week.

Batman #37

BM37

Official Synopsis: The ultra top-secret Batman arc known only as “Endgame,” continues – it’s a story arc so steeped in mystery, all we can tell you is the title!

Why its a Pick: The Joker has returned to turn everything that the Batman loves completely upside down once again, only this time he started with the Justice League do there’s no telling what his endgame is. That right there is exciting enough, any time the Joker is around it’s always fun to watch but having him aim so high is sure to provide some great moments and some real challenge for the Dark Knight.

Sandman Overture #4

SMOT4

Official Synopsis: In an asylum in the City of the Stars, Morpheus comes face to face with the creature at the center of the war that will destroy the universe. Time is running out…

Why its a Pick: This is the return of Gaiman and JH Williams II telling the tale of one of the greatest characters of all time within comic books, how could this not be a huge book. The fact that the book has been massively delayed hasn’t deterred me at all from this title, I couldn’t be more excited to see Gaimans story telling and the amazing artwork of Williams II back on the pages of comic books. And with the title only having 2issues left after this it should start to wrap up, and this has to be seen.

Wytches #3

WYTCH3

Official Synopsis: A parent’s worst nightmare: a beloved child lost in the woods. Behind the trees lurk horrors, and the brush conceals atrocity. No matter how desperate the search, understand that your prayers will fall on deaf ears. There is no escape from the Wytches.

Why its a Pick: Snyder and Jock have blown this book out of the park so far, its delivered on the story which has been intense but thoroughly engaging and enjoyable. While Jock has managed to provide some uniquely creepy looking visuals that really help add some scares to the story, just look at the Wytche from the last issue to see what im talking about. I cant wait to see how this story develops.

Book of the Week

SMOT4

This has to be the title of the week- I’m far too big a Sandman fan not to be massively excited by its return.
