Comic Book Picks 26November 14

Comics, Comics, Comics is how my brain sounds at this time of the week as were less than 24hours away from the release of this weeks new books. And here’s what i think is worth checking out this week from the plethora of releases.

Gotham by Midnight #1

Official Synopsis: Strange doings are afoot in Gotham City! Look out, though – Jim Corrigan is on the case in this new series by writer Ray Fawkes (CONSTANTINE, BATMAN ETERNAL) and artist Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night, Ten Grand)!

Why its a Pick: Gotham is a great place, and the city is always full of interesting inhabitants whether there being chased by the Dark Knight or not and this series looks set to give us some of those great tales. The addition of detective Jim Corrigan (The Spectre) as the lead protagonist is an interesting choice- but should hopefully be a great fit for Templesmiths artwork. And there is the real reason to get this story- the artwork of Templesmith who is as unique as he is amazing, you really need to be buying this.

Official Synopsis: An epic 26 centuries in the making: In the aftermath of a galactic war a hundred years long, Odyssia the Clever Champion and her compatriots begin their longest, strangest trip yet: the one home. A gender-bent eye-popping psychedelic science fiction odyssey begins here. Includes special eight-page foldout!

Why its a Pick: Matt Fraction has been a role with everything he has written, particularly his creator owned titles, and this is the latest of those and keeps him within the Sci-fi realm he is so confident and a real story creator within so this should be another great ride. The story itself sounds interesting and Wards artwork seems like a great fit for the psychedelic theme- this book should really come together as something interesting.
