Comic Book Picks 19th November ’14

Wednesday can mean only one thing- thats its new comic book day wether you buy them in a classic paper format or a less tactile digital format- this is the best day of the week. So heres what I’m picking as the books to read this week.

Amazing Spider=Man #10

Official Synopsis: SPIDER-VERSE PART 2! A spider-army is gathering to fight Morlun and his deadly family, but who will lead them? Why, only the greatest spider-hero of all, THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN.Our universe’s AMAZING SPIDER-MAN has an issue with that.GUEST STARRING- MILES MORALES

Why its a Pick: Spider-Verse has started great, with the ‘Edge of Spider-Verse’ really delivering some great new characters and the first full issue of Spiderverse was a great lead in to what should be an epic story. Morlun has been looking more menacing than the last time we saw him- and he managed to almost kill Parker then, so i dread to think what may happen this time. Add to that some of the great new characters and the addition of Scarlet Spider and Ultimate Spider-Man to this issue and its clearly going to be a winner. And lets face it who doesnt want to see how Peter rects to an alternate reality Gwen Stacy?

Spider-Woman #1

Official Synopsis: New Ongoing Series/Spider-Verse Tie-In! Jessica Drew has been an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and agent of S.W.O.R.D., an Avenger and so much more. But nothing could prepare her for the multidimensional insanity that is Spider-Verse! A war is brewing, and every spider-character in the multiverse is a target! But being a target is something Jessica Drew just won’t abide. She’s a woman with a mission and with Silk, the newest spider-character on the block at her side, she’ll have to put all her training to the test if she wants to make it out of Spider-Verse alive!
SPIDER-VERSE KICKS OFF A NEW ONGOING SERIES! Dennis Hopeless (CABLE & X-FORCE, AVENGERS: ARENA) and Greg Land (UNCANNY X-MEN) bring you a universe spanning adventure starring Jessica Drew Spider-Woman and the newest spider-hero, SILK

Why its a Pick: Spider-Verse!!! that should be enough, but when you look at the creative team its clear to see that Marvel are looking to make a statement by adding the great writing talent of Hopeless and the ever reliable and eye catching art of Greg Land. So if for nothing else the first arc of this book may be worth a read.

Wonder Woman #36

Official Synopsis: Please welcome the new superstar creative team of writer Meredith Finch and artist David Finch! As this new epic begins, the fate of the Amazons is about to be revealed, major new characters will be introduced and a new villain will arrive with enough power to defeat the combined might of Wonder Woman and her Justice League teammates! Don’t miss the start of this story that guest stars Swamp Thing! It will define what it takes for Diana to fulfill her destiny as Wonder Woman!

Why its a Pick:This is the end of the longest running creative team on any of the new 52books from DC- barring Batman, and that means we get treated to a new creative lead and artist, this time in the form of a family affair. David Finch always delivers nice looking art, although his sketchy style can sometimes be too much but generally he’s great. And let’s not forget this issue features Swamp Thing so what more do you need.
