Comic Book Picks 15th October’14

Folks, new comic book day is nearly upon us and that can only bring a smile to my face. However as with every new week there comes the dilemma of what titles to be buying this week? Well here are my picks for this week.

Avenger and X-Men: Axis #2

Official Synopsis: ACT I: THE RED SUPREMACY. The heroes of the Marvel Universe storm the beaches of Red Skull’s Genoshian re-education camps. What they discover within will lead to a bleak new era. The revelation of Tony Stark’s dark secret promises to shatter the fragile alliance between A and X. The all-new Captain America pays a terrible price. Nova’s attempt at solving the crisis leads to disaster. Magneto betrays his alliance to join an army of evil

Why its a Pick: The first issue of this series was great from not only an action standpoint but also a story telling standpoint as we got more fuel to the inevitable Avengers and X-Men battle from the past and potentially the future in Marvel. This book should continue to tell and show the huge struggle again the Red Onslaught and his now ready to go team of Sentinels programmed to specifically hunt all the Avengers and X-Men- this should be a great issue.

Wolverine and the X-Men #10

Official Synopsis: THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF WOLVERINE. The X-Men mourn as one of their own is finally put to rest. As a reporter digs further in Wolverine’s past, what will be uncovered as the X-Men retell their favorite personal adventures and Wolverine stories Some of the industry’s best and brightest lend a hand to say farewell in these two jam-packed issues: Robbi Rodriguez, Jason Latour, Jim Rugg, James Harren & more.

Why its a Pick: This should be the beginning of the one process of mourning Wolverine within the Marvel universe, and a good double sized issue to tell some of his greatest and potentially unheard adventures sounds like a good way for this ride to begin. Add to this fact that Wolverine has had the biggest impact upon this book and the X-Men over the last 3years and he deserves a fitting send off here, and i see him getting it.

Death of Wolverine #4

Official Synopsis: IT’S THE BEGINNING OF THE END – 3 MONTHS TO DIE ENDS HERE! The beginning of the end is now here … THE DEATH OF WOLVERINE! THREE MONTHS TO DIE, the loss of Wolverine’s healing factor–all led to this, the single most important X-Men event of the decade. Logan has spent over a century being the best there is at what he does…but even the best fade away eventually.  Over the years, Logan has been a warrior, a hero, a renegade, a samurai, a teacher—and so much more. But now, the greatest X-Men hero will play a role he’s never played before in this special weekly event brought to you by industry superstars Charles Soule and Steve McNiven

Why its a Pick: The death of Wolverine is a massive thing so you should need no other to get on board- however if you do then surely the fact that this is the end of the ‘man who is the best at what he does’ and has defined the Marvel universe for decades is dying and its may all happen here.

Book of the Week

Axis is looking to be a hug event that has massive shock waves across the whole Marvel Universe and should be a great action read this week too.
