Comic Book Picks 13th August’14

Wednesday is nearly here again, and thus week is a busy one for the release of comic books so im here to let you know in a week of multiple title what im recommending you ‘pick up’ and why.

Amazing Spider-Man #5

Official Synopsis: The greatest untold secret of Spider-Man’s world has a name – SILK!
Who is this mysterious woman and what does she have to do with Black Cat and Electro?

Why its a Pick: Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos have been doing a great job with the return of Peter Parker, and with trying to tie up all the events that occurred while Otto Octavious was in the guise of Parker. One of these is the demise of the Black Cat, and she has returned for revenge against everyone’s favourite wall crawler and so far this has been exciting and played out well. I’m excited to see where this goes with the addition of Electro and a hidden bad guy in the background now.

Batman #34

Official Synopsis: ZERO YEAR is over, and the events of BATMAN: ETERNAL have put Gotham City in a tailspin, but Batman is focused on finding a killer who has haunted his hometown in secret for years. This special issue features art by Matteo Scalera (DEADPOOL, Black Science) and sets the stage for the next major Batman story in the fall.

Why its a Pick: Zero Year has been amazing, no-one can argue that this book has slowed down or dropped a single notch from fantastic since Synder took the reigns of the title. And anything that is being set-up as the next big Batman event of the year with Snyder as the lead writer is well worth getting your hands on and being involved with since this beginning. I couldn’t be expecting bigger things or be more excited to see where Snyder goes next.

All New X-Men #30

Official Synopsis: Past, present and future collide as the Future Brotherhood exacts their final judgment on the All-New X-Men.
Plus, Angel takes control!

Why its a Pick: This title has done a great job of making the past X-Men relevant in the current Marvel universe, and the future Brotherhood have had a big hand in that. It’s nice to see the remnants of ‘Battle of the Atom’ still playing out in a tile and having massive ramifications on one of Marvels titles and those reasons alone are enough to see how this rag-tag bunch of time traveling mutants are getting on.

Book of the Week:

Snyder wins this week- the Dark Knight has never been better than under the guise of this mastermind.
