Scalped- being adapted for Television

Comic book fans rejoice, WGN America have announced they have the rights too adapt Jason Aaron’s Scalped into a television series. This series ran for 5years under the DC Vertigo banner and is a wonderful ‘Crime Noir’ book based on a Native American Reservation.

This is another big adaptation announcement to add to the recent acquisitions of other companies- such as Gotham, iZombie and DMZ. It certainly appears that this is going to a golden age for comic books on the silver screen.

The official synopsis for the comic book is as follows: “the series focused on the Oglala Lakota inhabitants in the fictional Prairie Rose Indian Reservation in South Dakota as they grapple with organized crime, poverty, drug and alcohol addiction and local politics while trying to preserve their cultural identity.”

This should make for some interesting viewing- if WGN truly follow the source material.
