Friday Films 21st March 14

filmfriday headerOnce again its the beginnig of the weekend., and that means its time for most of this weeks new film releases (some were wednesday) and time for the population to decide what theyre going to go and spend several hours watching and talking about for at least one night of their weekend. But whats made the silver screen this week, and is it worth checking out? Well lets see…

This week is a slow week for major blockbusters or highly anticipated movies but there is still a couple of notable releases this week, firstly

About Last Night

This is possibly the biggest release of the week, and easily the ‘Film of the Week’ if your unsure on what to go and see this weekend. This is a lighthearted and romantic comedy starring Kevin Hart, Micheal Ealy and Regina Hall so the acting and comedic performances in this should definitely be worth a watch. Its all directed by Steve Pink, who gave us the surprisingly good ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ so i expect the style of the shots to be similar as Steve Pink seems to be becoming one of Hollywoods go-to guys for comedy movies. Kevin Hart has delivered some decent comedy performances as of late (Ride Along) even if the movies themselves haven’t been great, so i expect Hart to put in a decent performance and with a good script and some co-stars who can also deliver i fully expect this film to funny.

The synopsis for this movie is: New love for two couples as they journey from the bar to the bedroom and are eventually put to the test in the real world.

Labor Day

This is possibly the only other film released this week that i would recommend anyone checking out- and this is purely because it stars very capable actors in the form of Kate Winslett, Josh Brolin, Tobey Maguire, Clark Gregg and James Van Der Beek. This group of acting talent alone is enough to get me intirgued in this film, and when you add in the directing talent of Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Jennifers Body) this has all the ingredients and required elements of being a great movie.

The official synopsis for the movie is as follows: Depressed single mom Adele and her son Henry offer a wounded, fearsome man a ride. As police search town for the escaped convict, the mother and son gradually learn his true story as their options become increasingly limited.
